Position Overview
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage Branch:
- Edit process and review various inventory and pricing and corresponding reports.
- Review purchase order pricing and receiving with accounts payable.
- Maintain accurate inventory counting and control levels.
- Process and review various profit margin reports.
- Review back-order PO’s and open tickets.
- Manage fuel and propane accounts if appropriate.
- Manage branch inventory level
- Support branch staff through coaching and development.
- Reconcile cylinder load sheets for drivers and office staff.
- Maintain a clean and organized retail store.
- Re-stock sold items in retail store.
- Checking and posting of daily store invoices.
- Checking and posting of driver invoices.
- Count store cash drawer.
Inside Sales
- Handles inbound sales lead calls to convert calls into sales.
- Fields inbound calls, emails and texts from Account Managers and Route Sales Representatives and routes requests accordingly.
- Track all quotes for follow-up and ensure proper entry of all orders into the software system.
- Enters new customer data and other sales data for current customers into computer database.
- Investigates and resolves customer problems with deliveries.
- Act as liaison between customer and the field team.
- Overcomes technical and business objections of prospective customers.
- Maintain regular contact and develop strong relationships with internal teams.
- Monitor the inbound sales email folder and follow up with website inquiries, daily.
- Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of supplier input, and own firm’s production and delivery schedules.
- Works with outside sales representatives with key account activities and support.
- Provide back-up on accounts for Field Sales during their absence.
Manage and Maintain Customer Relationships:
- Lead key initiatives around branch integration into Central McGowan operations.
- Manages relationships with internal and external business partners and customers.
- Manage inventory levels of hard goods / gases for both in store sales and external distribution functions.
- Provide timely, accurate, competitive pricing while striving to maintain maximum profit margin.
- Determine customer requirements and expectations in order to recommend appropriate solutions.
Provide customer service via telephone to incoming city desk callers.
- Answer customer service calls, on product questions, recommendation or to place an order.
- Generate delivery tickets for phone in orders placed by customers looking for delivery. Ensure the delivery person is aware of details on order.
- Troubleshoot various questions over the phone.
- Assist Central McGowan employees calling in with questions and tasks.
Qualifications
- High School degree or equivalent required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in business management preferred.
- 2 – 5 years of Sales / Store experience, preferably in the distribution industry.
- Experience or knowledge in welding and industrial equipment sales and/or field-related tasks preferred.

- In 2021, acquired Fessler Carbonic Gas Company in Des Moines, IA, expanding our CO2 footprint to all of Iowa; and Metro Welding Supply in Minneapolis, MN to better serve customers the Minneapolis metro area and most recently Preferred Welder Sales out of Mankato expanding our Southern MN footprint.
